This month I was asked to do a Commission for a pin cushion for a man who sews. "Help", his wife said, "all the ones in the shops are flowery and girly: could you make one? Don't they think men sew...."
I have since been talking to various people about this subject, and it appears that many men who sew either a) don't make a big deal out of it or b) keep it a well hid secret in case it takes something away from their wives
Wow and we thought it was 2013: you see these stereotyped gender roles run deep folks! So come on guys and gals... its ok.... sewing is in and it is for ANYONE AND EVERYONE. Be cool and keep stitching.
Oh and in case you were wondering, I made a navy/white pin striped pin cushion with a recycled blue tie down the centre. Job done.
